Boo-Ci-me The Astonished Pumpkin

This little fella is the last to be plucked ever so gently from the ol' abandoned pumpkin patch on Thorton Lane for this season.

AND HE'S FOR SALE

Standing only 5 - 1/2 inches tall, he is the smallest of the other two pumpkins "Frank" And "Wilbur".

Though despite his small stature, his curiously astonished expression screams of the interesting personality this little pumpkin has.

Good Morning to everyone

There's never a better time of day than that perfect stillness in the early morning. When really just the pretty little songbirds are the only creatures fully active.

Everything is stirring and stretching its wings, legs, arms, claws, tails and whatever else all with that familiar giant yawn.

The flowers have had a restful night and now is the time just before they brace themselves for the burning texas sun

"Please don't go!"

I love my pet rats to do. And I have great fun photographing them in cute or 'whimsical' ways too. They work very well with me and don't mind being in front of a camera at all.

In the making of something awesome... I hope!

Sadly after a lot of hardwork.. a mug I created (and sold) recently was lost in the mail. No way to track it at all.
But instead of accepting defeat, I'm making another one... much the same painting as the long-lost first one. This one will be better though. I'm excited about it! And so is the original wonderful lady who is kind enough to work with me on creating another one to replace the lost one.

This mug is still in its early early stages so much more work is to be done.

I have another mug  in an ocean theme waiting to be finished that will be for sale in my etsy shop soon

Getting ready for a new crop of creatures

It may seem early but I'm already trying to plan out a few of the creatures I'd like to create for Halloween this year!

It brought me to thinking I need to photo-document my very first Halloween creatures since they are several years old now and I know they cannot last forever.

Here I show the paper mache sculptures I did along with the drawings that first inspired
 them -
                                                     The Smiling King
                      _____________________

The Smiling King is one of my most favorite characters I've created and actually was my first paper mache sculpture! The original drawing is depicting the unfortunate reality that sometimes we have to 'force' ourselves to smile.

Delirium
______________________________

This fine lady's name is "Delirium" ... Though its what most people think of when they see her ..Delirium actually was -not- inspired by Medusa. But rather, the tentacles represent the massive buildup of such insanity in her head that it is escaping and manifesting itself in this interesting form of black and white banded tentacles. If Delirium was animated, I think they would be writhing about in a very slow motion fashion.

FRANK
__________________

Poor Frank doesn't have a drawing to pose with. But its alright he's still one of the most badass paper mache sculptures I've ever done. He was created for Halloween 2010 and  was my first  highly detailed pumpkin sculpture with even real grapevine wrapped around the stem! Frank was made to look as if he was the abandoned pumpkin in the patch that rotted  into wickedness.
And so there's more to be done... more to design, sculpture and create. There's something amazing to me about being able to make what was once only in my imagination. To be able to hold in your hands something that was once just an image in my head. With the season rapidly changing into summer clothes I really should work fast as this is prime time to make critters. The heat of summer enables projects to dry quickly and starting now would allow plenty of time for detailed work, more ideas and also..errors. ; - )

Till next time!

In the Sunshine...

"The Red Poppy Field"

My recent hand-painted cup now available for sale in my etsy shop - www.etsy.com/shop/inkydreamz

This little painting captures just a tiny portion of the gorgeous scenery I've observed as I watched the garden change into its summer 'clothes'

I took these photos using my new Olympus T-10, I'm so thankful to have a new and better
camera!

The colors are so brilliant in this shot due to the sunlight (and the sun was getting close to setting) but I love how it looks a little bit magical.
